What was your role in London and why did you decide to move to Sydney?
In the London office I was a specialist consultant for business support into the Legal sector. I had always wanted to move to Sydney and working for an Australian company made that opportunity a lot easier. The main reason for the timing for the move was (dare I say it) my 30th birthday fast approaching! I knew that it would be easier to make the move before this landmark occasion!
How was the moving process?
I was very lucky with my move to Sydney, it all fell into place so smoothly. Firstly I spoke with my Managers in London who were sad to see me go but very supportive of my decision and put me in touch with the relevant people I needed to speak with in Australia. I came over here on my working holiday visa as this was the quickest and easiest thing to do and I moved straight into the business support team doing pretty much the exact same job as I did in London.
What is different about Australia compared to the UK?
The client base is much broader over here which means I get to work in a variety of different industries. Building client and candidate relationships is so important! It is obviously important in London too but there is a much more relaxed attitude here which means you can really get to know your candidates and clients – my favourite bit of the job!
Have you managed to explore your new home?
I’m still pretty new to the City and started working as soon as I came over so I still have a lot to see. There are major excursion plans in place already but even exploring in and around the City has been so exciting! Obviously I miss my family and friends but with Skype and modern technology I still speak to them and see their faces on a regular basis. In my first week here I met a few friends outside the Opera House for lunch…the sun was shining, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sea was sparkling…that moment then was exactly why I moved here!
Why do you enjoy working here?
Working for Ambition Group has definitely helped with my move and settling in. The people are awesome and the company really wants you to do well. They put a lot of time and effort into developing you and pushing you forward without losing the fun aspect of living in Australia. We all get along well and you know people are here to celebrate with you through the highs and support you through the lows. I’m loving it so far and would recommend Ambition and AccountAbility to anyone!
