Co-Founder and Group CEO
Nick is one of the founders of the company has been a board member since its inception in August 1999. He is based in Sydney and has overall responsibility for leading the Group and developing international strategy.
Prior to establishing Ambition, Nick was Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand for another high profile international recruitment business, having started his recruitment career with the same firm in 1981.
Nick holds an honours degree in Economics from York University.
Paul Young was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company in September 1999. He is the co-founder and a director of Baron Partners Limited, a well-established corporate advisory business, and has been in merchant banking in Australia for more than 25 years. He has extensive experience in the provision of corporate advice to a wide range of Australian and foreign listed and unlisted companies including restructuring, capital raising, initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions.
A qualified chartered accountant in England and Wales, Paul holds a degree in economics from the University of Cambridge, an Advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Paul is a Director of Byron Energy Limited, Opus Group Limited and of several private companies.
Cathy Doyle is an accomplished People and Business leader with executive level and board experience across a number of blue chip companies. Cathy has over 20 years’ experience in the Finance, Superannuation and Consumer Services sectors holding roles at the most senior levels of McDonalds Australia, BNP Paribas, CBA, Qantas, NRMA and Perpetual where she had the P and L responsibility for the Equities team, and their clients with over $16 billion in FUM.
Cathy has an extensive track record of delivering best practice HR and business change management strategies across complex and dynamic workforces, where she has been instrumental in lifting employee engagement, employment brand and workforce satisfaction levels and improving the customer experience.
With strong links to Australia’s corporate governance and philanthropic communities, Cathy is a founding board member and Membership Director of the International Women’s Forum Australia, former Chair of drug and alcohol charity, Odyssey House and is currently Non-Executive Director of both Ambition Limited and Mason Stevens Group.
She holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree, graduate diploma qualifications in Psychology and Vocational Education and Training and an MBA. She is also a Graduate of both AIST and AICD and holds a Certificate in Governance.
Outside of work, Cathy is busy raising her two sons Ellis 18 and Oscar 12.
The Asian market is extremely important to Ambition and, reflecting this, Prof. Richard Petty was appointed in August 2014 as an Asian-based independent Non-Executive Director.
Richard has more than 20 years of consulting and advisory experience. He has advised a broad range of multinational firms and several governments on issues including finance, strategy, competitiveness, governance and on doing business in Asia. Richard is Chairman of The Australian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong & Macau, Chairman of Asian Property Investments Ltd, Chairman of Flintwood International Ltd, Past Chairman and present Board Member of CPA Australia, Board Member of Neural Technologies Ltd (UK); and he holds a number of other directorships.
Richard graduated with first class honours in Accounting and was awarded the university medal. He holds a Masters degree (with honours) in Commerce and a Ph.D. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and was made a Life Member of CPA Australia in 2011. Richard also is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Laurent commenced his career in chartered accounting in 1994 working for Deloitte in South Africa, where he subsequently spent three years and gained his CA qualification. Laurent spent some time in investment banking before settling into an audit and consulting firm where he progressed to partner within a year and stayed on for a further four years.
Laurent developed his CFO skills in the technology services industry over the next six years working in international companies in the consulting, software development and systems integration sectors. During this time he was actively involved in expansion and restructuring projects and a turnaround.
On moving to Australia in 2010, Laurent accepted a role with Deloitte Private in their corporate services division in a lead advisory role. Returning to the role of CFO in 2013, Laurent joined an international technology company in the cutting edge cloud services area.
Joining Ambition in 2015, Laurent brings his experience, leadership and acumen to the role of CFO and Company Secretary.
Laurent is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
