How long have you been with Ambition?
8 months, started in August 2015
I am a proud alumnus of the Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. I studied Business Administration, specializing my classroom-based and practical work experiences in Marketing. After graduating, I decided to embark on a journey across the world to meet and learn from people representing all walks of life. After learning about the financial and professional opportunities in the recruitment world, I joined Ambition Asia as an Associate Consultant, recruiting into the SEA Advertising and Media Agency market.
What first attracted you to Ambition?
A newcomer to the competitive recruitment world of Singapore, I was interviewing with various recruitment firms to understand the market better. I learned that Ambition have a market-leading reputation because of their focus on company culture. They have valuable systems in place to nurture talent. For me, the Academy Program, a comprehensive training program to build successful 360 degree consultants, was quite attractive.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My mornings are candidate centric. I will be calling and meeting strong candidates to understand what they are looking for and subsequently share specific job opportunities with them.
During lunch, I meet with my existing candidates and clients. Candidates tell me about how much they are enjoying their new job. Clients provide me with interview feedback and next steps for roles I am currently sourcing for. I look to provide both with market information to assist in our next step forward. Lunch usually helps to transition into a client-centric mind-set for the latter half of the day.
In the afternoon, I will meet with new clients. I learn about the firm in detail while sharing more about Ambition and our various solutions, based on the difficulty at hand. I end the day sourcing for the needs of my existing and new clients and booking registration meetings for the next morning.
How does working at Ambition help you develop as a professional?
I work in an autonomous environment and hence, have to take ownership for my work. This is coupled with ensuring each client and candidate is consulted with quality advice and we are continually building and growing relationships. I am surrounded by helping hands (special mention to my Sales and Marketing team!), where colleagues collaborate while working and share valuable market knowledge with one another. Ambition has helped me further develop my character, which is a definite by-product of the firm’s values and culture.
What is something you know about Ambition that you didn’t know before you joined?
I am surrounded by people with many hidden talents. We have national swimmers and runners, impressive karaoke singers, and even a world-traveling baker!
